Are you interested in learning about wine making and wine? This is a rare opportunity to see the process from the inside of a working winery. This class will explore the techniques of winemaking from growing to bottling the final product. The morning session will conclude with a tour of the winery followed by a light lunch. The afternoon will be an exploration and sensory evaluation of the wines made from the Rhone Valley grapes including white varietals, Viognier, Marsanne & Roussanne; and red varietals, Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Carignane & Mourvedre. The students will taste and evaluate wines that represent the best varietal characteristics and illustrate various styles. The Old Creek Ranch Winery has been making fine wines since 1981 and specializes in hand made wines from select vineyards throughout California. The class should be a pleasure to any oenophile, whether novice or experienced collector. Must be over 21, please. A $20 materials fee is payable to the instructor.
