Post subject: Tempranillo Varietal from Rioja

The Tempranillo is a marvelous grape coming mostly from the Rioja area in the Northern part of Spain. Tempranillo is the best-known and one of the most expensive wines coming from Spain. This wine is similar in taste to a good French Cabernet Sauvignon, and therefore it pairs well with almost any dinner serving red meat.

Great Post! I also enjoy the Tempranillo grape from the Rioja area in Spain. A wine that offers exeptional taste. Strangely enough, I enjoy a good Tempranillo with Mediterranean sardines in virgin olive oil with sundried tomatoes on rosemary bread. The Tempranillo wine compliments these foods perfectly.

Wow, this is a different type of lunch or dinner you are describing. I will try this. May be you would like to enjoy your next Tempranillo from Rioja with a delicious Lamb Chop Dinner?

The other night our Hungarian neighbors served sauteed calf liver and onions, as well as spicy grilled sausages. For pairing, they opend wines from Spain. Mostly Rioja wines/Tempranillo varietal , which were quite good, considering the new food experience.

At an Austrian Resort, they were serving Spanish Tempranillo/Rioja wines, which came with an assortment of nuts and cheeses, mostly Swiss (with holes), and Natural Gruyere. Liked the wine and food pairing.

Last wine bottle we shared was Marques de Caceres Crianza Red Wine from Rioja, Spain. This Red Wine was a blend of three varietals, mostly Tempranillo.
Our dinner was an exceptional Spanish Veggies Soup including smoked and dried ham, all types of spicy sausages. Every one liked the Soup and Marques Red Wine. What Tempranillo Grape Wines are you drinking.

Sorry, our Tempranillo came from California, and is called: Match Book Winery 2006 Tempranillo from Dunningan Hills/Calif.
We liked this tasty and fruity wine and the BBQ beef ribs provided a nice wine and food pairing.

The Tempranillo Grape is suppose to be the Spanish-like Cabernet Sauvignon. The Wine came from Rioja and was quite delicious. (Forgot the label). Our Hungarian Beef Gulasch was pairing well.

Post subject: Tempranillo & Chocolate Strawberries

I paired 2005 Six Sigma Tempranillo with chocolate covered strawberries and it was delicious. The body and fruity/mocha/chocolate flavors complemented the sweetness of the strawberries.

See Tempranillo wine ratings, wine reviews and wine tasting notes. I enjoyed drinking some of these full-body labels, delicious varietal.

Would you compare the Tempranillo Varietal more to the Cabernet Sauvignon Grape or would you also substitute this wine with one of my favorite California Zinfandels?

Spanish Tempranillo Varietal is more related to the French Cabernet Sauvignon than Zinfandel, I love Zins.

You are surely correct. How would you compare the Spanish Tempranillos to the California Meritages?

It would be similar comparing Tempranillos versus Bordeaux Red Blends, since Meritages are suppose to be the same!
